Questions people ask before signing up.

If yours is not here, write to us. A person answers, usually within a day.

How the calls work

Who actually does the interviewing?

A computer voice, and we say so plainly because people find out anyway and it should not be a surprise. It is a real back-and-forth conversation rather than a recording or a list of prompts. It listens, follows up on what was just said, and waits when someone needs a moment.

It also remembers. By the fourth call it knows the name of the street they grew up on and can ask what happened to the house.

What if they do not answer?

We try again a little later the same day, up to three times, and then leave it until the following week. Nobody gets called repeatedly and nobody gets called at odd hours. Calls only ever go out between 9 in the morning and 8 at night, in their own time zone.

How long is a call?

Usually ten to twenty minutes. The first one tends to be short and they get longer as people warm up. The interviewer does not push for a particular length, so a day when someone is tired is simply a shorter call.

Does my parent need a smartphone, or the internet?

No. Any phone works, including a landline. There is nothing to install, no account to make, and no password to remember. The phone rings and they pick it up.

Can I change the day or time?

Yes, any time, and it takes one email. The same goes for pausing the calls during a hospital stay or a holiday.

The memoir itself

When do the chapters appear?

Within a few hours of each call. The writing stays close to what was actually said and uses their own words and phrases wherever it can. It does not invent scenery, feelings, or details that were not in the conversation.

Who can read it?

Only people you give the link to. The page is not listed anywhere, is not indexed by search engines, and there is no directory of residents to browse. If you would like a second layer, we can put a numeric PIN on it, which is worth doing if the link will be forwarded around a large family.

What if they say something they would rather not have published?

Tell us and we will remove it, no explanation needed. The same goes for a whole chapter or the whole page.

Can we get it as a book?

Not yet. Printing is the most requested thing we hear and it is what we are building next. Everything written in the meantime is kept, so nothing is lost by starting now.

Privacy and consent

Do you record the calls?

The conversation is transcribed so it can be written up. We ask you to confirm your parent knows this before the first call, and it is the one box on the signup form that cannot be skipped. Paying for the service is not the same as the person on the other end agreeing to be called.

Do you sell any of this?

No. We do not sell or share personal information, and the stories are not used to train anyone else’s models. The full detail is in the privacy policy.

How do we stop?

Reply to any email from us and the calls stop the same day. You keep everything written up to that point. If you would like the whole record deleted instead, say so and we will delete it.

Paying for it

What does it cost?

Plans start at $24 a month for the first ten families, and $39 a month after that. The full breakdown is on the pricing page.

What if it is not right for us?

If the first month is not what you hoped for, write to us within 30 days and we will refund it in full.

Cancelling stops the next charge and takes one email. Nothing is hidden behind a retention flow.

Can I pay for a parent who lives somewhere else?

That is the normal case. The person paying and the person being called are usually different people, and the signup form asks for both.

Still deciding?

You can start this week and stop after the first call if it is not what you hoped for. That is what the guarantee is for.
